At the instant that SIMBA
prints a carton label, it sends the data about that carton to the production
office, where it is captured in SIMBA’s
database. Running totals are displayed on the computer screen, and a
production report can be printed at any time, covering everything that
has happened right up to that moment. Data transmission to the office
is normally via Windows network, wired or wireless. If the network is
down, production isn’t down – the production workstation
continues to work and holds all data until the network is available.
If a network connection in the plant isn’t practical, data can
be transferred by a memory device, like a diskette but more reliable.
